Term and Termination

Contracts should be for a definite stated term. Avoid contracts or agreements, which automatically renew without sufficient advanced notice. Requiring an affirmative act to renew the contract is much better. The University of Western Australia should have the right to terminate the contract early if the other party is in default of its obligations under the contract or agreement.

Pitfalls

In certain contracts or agreements rights to terminate will be seen to be crucial and unless the contract or agreement expressly gives those rights they may not otherwise apply.
