Copying Music - Music Licence

The Australian Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (AVCC) has negotiated a new licence agreement between Australian music societies and thirty-three of Australia’s universities, including UWA.  The licence allows participating universities (subject to certain conditions) to perform, copy or communicate musical works and sound recordings for their educational purposes and for university events.

Under the agreement UWA staff and students will be able to reproduce, communicate and perform an extensive repertoire of musical works without having to obtain prior permission from the copyright holders.

UWA will pay an annual fee to the music collecting societies (AMCOS, APRA, ARIA and PPCA) for access to music and sound recordings of their member artists and producers.
